Everyday at MELC!

Our teachers are committed to providing a loving, fun, home-like atmosphere for your child and making sure that all of his or her physical and emotional needs are met throughout the day. All classrooms are equipped with age-appropriate toys, games, books and furnishings. Free play is balanced with planned daily activities including story time, circle time, music and art.

In addition to teaching basic academic skills that your child will need to know upon entering kindergarten, MELC teaches important social skills, such as sharing, caring, friendship, and manners. Children also get plenty of social interaction and outdoor playtime at MELC. We have two playgrounds, one for the infants and toddlers, and one for the 3 and 4 year olds.

Extra Curricular Classes

We offer many extra curricular activities at MELC. The children who are not participating in these activities stay in their room and follow their normal routine. By having so many options, it helps the children who are not participating to not feel “left out”. The activities are offered at different times, so your child could attend all of them if you wish.

Tuition includes: Spanish Class, Sign Language, Music and Movement, and Baking.

These classes are each once a week and available to all children who are 18 months old or older.

Dance Lessons

We offer dance lessons through Tippy Toes. These classes are offered for children 3 years old and up.

The Knight School

We offer chess lessons once a week for three and four year olds.

Soccer

We offer soccer lessons to three and four olds through Soccer Shots.

Field Trips, Big and Small

We take field trips to The Birmingham Zoo, McWane Center, Pumpkin Patch, and Children’s Theater. For our younger students, we have “in-house” field trips so they do not have to leave the center. Some of these include T & N Acres Petting Farm, McWane Center, Ed’s Pet World, and Emmet O’Neal Library.
